A LITTLE HISTORY...
The canonic erection of Sainte-Eulalie was decreed October the 3rd 1857, and the parish was elevated to the statue of civil municipality by Government Monk Proclamation, July the 18th 1862. As soon as fall 1861, Noé Tourigny, coming from Saint-Grégoire, begins to clear the first lot of the concession. Most of colons who establish themselves in the parish in the begining of the colony, come from Saint-Grégoire and many of them are from an acadian descent.

The first church is erected in 1872. Becoming to small, it is replaced by the present church, construction began in 1904 and delivered June the 10th 1906. School municipality was established was established by an order of Governor in Council, May the first 1861. The Caisse Populaire has see the light on February the 18th 1935, then 22 companies subscribed each to a social part of 5$.

Saturday, September the 4th 1949, a fire destroyed tree houses in the village including a general store and a forgery. After that sinister, the municipality acquire a fire pomp and made dig a well in the flowerbed of the church. We can consider that it is at that moment when was born a relatively organized fire brigade. Today, this service counts 25 voluntary fire brigades. Since 1975, the village is endowed with a system of sewer with aqueduct.

Further to a monetary help of the program of development of the environment of Hydro-Québec, March 14th, 1987, We proceed to the inauguration of the Villa Bonne Entente, a building sheltering 10 housings with reasonable price.

The first colonist (According to Donat Tourigny's papers, son of Noé Tourigny).
In autumn, 1861, after the harvests, dad and my uncle Olivier went to make the first clearings on the land which grandfather had bought to Sainte-Eulalie. Mister Joseph Beaudet, who had a land around, made the journey with them. It was Monday of the beginning of September. They left cheerfully, accompanied with the wishes of their families.

They left for week, on foot, having each on the back, a bag of provisions crossed in their axe handle. Mr Beaudet stops naturally on his land where he had a small built hut, and he invited his companions to take the meal with him, what they made with happiness.

Collecting a good fried of grilled salty bacon, and having said their benediction of food, they sat down to take their first meal, that the walking which they had just made, had abundantly flavored. (According to Mrs Johnny Vigneault's letter).

The first house

(Comments taken in with Mr. Gérard Tourigny, grandson of Mr. Noé Tourigny, by Mrs Françoise St-Yves-Lablanc)

In the course of the autumn, 1861, Noé helped sometimes by his two brothers, Olivier and Odilon, was incensed to make the cutting down on its land and to square off some wood to build its house. When there was a little of work done on the land, he took a horse to pull in suitable place the lumber which he had prepared.

During the summer, Noé at first burned the brushwood during the autumn and during the previous winter, he began to sow the ground of cereal in which he add millet abundantly. While this first harvest crossed, he raised his house, the Saint-Eulalie's first construction. The bottom as the height was a single room; the bottom had four windows and a single door looking onto the forest, but the height had only two windows, one in every gable.
